OUR KAKINADA CITY
Our kakinada city is the capital of East Godavari District, of Andhra pradesh in SOUTHERN india. It is situated in the eastern part of Andhra capital, adjoining to coastal line of Bay of Bengal. The area of kakinada is about 192 sq kms.
Kakinada was a town and converted in to city with effect from 06-01-2005. under the administrative run of kakinada municipal corporation(KMC) containing 50 wards. As a sign of affection , the kakinada is called co-canada (old Dutch name) and second Madras(present chennai). Our Kakinada city is under two mandal set ups namely kakinada Urban mandal and kakinada Rural mandal. The population of kakinada is nearly4 lakhs.
Considering the climatic conditions, kakinada experiences normal weather with heat and humidity.Seasonal rainfall is due to south-west monsoons,but during october to December north-east monsoons blow.The radiation and carbondioxide emitted from township, factories and vehicle pollution increase the heat in the city. Apartment culture is rapidly growing up in the city of kakinada. The outer area surrounding kakinada which was vacant land large in area previously is now almost occupied by buildings mainly with apartments. There are two main factories NFCL (Nagarjuna Fertilisers and Chemicals Ltd) and GFCL (now named as Coromandal Fertilisers),both are biggest Urea manufacturing companies.
kakinada is a planned city, having broad and wide roads, range of long lengths. one can find straight long roads with neat appearance. The prominent business centres are Main road and Bhanugudi centre. Saying is that a saint(sadhu) used to sit in a place,placing in front of him, the photo of lord shiva, pray daily and during prayer.the sun rays from Bhanu (the other name of sun God is Bhanu)used to fall on shiva. .Some elders of the town observed the daily prayers of sadhu,helped sadhu to build a temple and the temple named Bhanulingeswara temple.which is called Bhanugudi.and the area is called Bhanugudi centre.The main road from jagannikpur to sarpavaramand and Big Bazar areas are congregated with people and traffic zone.The areas of Gandhinagar, Ramaraopet ,Sreeramnagar and Srinagar are relaxed ambience of the city.
The Special name of one road is "Cinema Road" having all the Cinema theatres of kakinada are located in the cinema street, of course ,of late a very few theatres are grown at different places in the city.
Kakinada is a port city having two ports, Anchorage port and deep water sea port. Cargo exports and imports will take place to different countries from kakinada Annually 15 million metric tonnes, exports and imports takeplace.. The Anchorage port is near Jagannaikpur, a southern part of kakinada. where, there is a Buckingham canal flows, and connected to sea, through which Cargo boats travel to reach the ships, anchored in the sea.A shipyard is under construction by a joint venture of Singapore based company and kakinada seaports pvt Ltd company..There is a small island called Hope island,5 kms away from coast line,which serves as natural harbour for both ports.The main exports are sea food like fish, prawn, shrimp, agricutural products like rice ,corn and chemicals and iron ore etc .Govt of India has sanctioned Hardware Park to kaknada.The petro chemicals carridor from Visakhapatnam to Chennai passess through kakinada. National Institute Of Hydrology (NIH) is situated in kakinada.This institute coducts experiments and sends reports to central Govt regarding resources of potable water apart from salinity content mixes with fresh water in costal belt.. kakinada is growing as a major industrial hub.

There are two railway stations in kakinada,one port railway station and other Town railway station,junction . .kakinada railway line is connected to main line,Howrah-Chennai at Samalkot railway station,which is 13kms away fmom kakinada.Enroute to samalkot railway station there is one more railway station, named Sarpavaram railway station which is considered as 3rd railway station of kakinada.Old port railway station shifted forward in to newly consturcted place and the old station is existing from where goods trains loading and unloading take place,including this old station,there are 4 railway stations for kakanada. Train services,express sevices are there from kakinada to Secunderabad,Hyderabad,Egmore(chennai) shirdi,Bhavanagar,Bangalore,andTirupati. Road ways from kakinada ,connected with all most all places within the state. National highway ,NH14 from kathipudi(junction of NH5)to Ongole passess through city and this connects kakinada to major cities.

Kakinada is a lovable place.There are several parks,maintained by municipal corporation,among one is Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Park in Gandhi nagar area of kakinada.The area Gandhi nagar,and the Gandhi park remember the historical event that" The Father of our Nation" ,in the year 1923,has conducted meeting in this area, under the aegis of Indian National Congress with prominent leaders,and hence this area is called Gandnagar and where Gandhiji conducted meeting, erected a big statue of Gandhiji ,sitting in meditation, in the park .Rajatank park, another park in the city is also a big park.
